In addition to these many red-wine options, Riesling, a white wine perfected by German producers, is also much sought after this time of year. The final designation for these wines is based largely on the residual sugar content, meaning that they can range from somewhat dry or semi-sweet to very sweet. After hundreds of years of perfecting their craft, the German producers create even their sweetest offerings with an amazing elegance and subtlety that many people don’t associate with notions of a ‘sweet’ wine.
